About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Control Engineer to join our Complex Risk Solutions Group (CRSG). As a key member of our team, you will provide technical expertise to our clients, helping them navigate complex risk management challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of facilities and management systems, identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with Underwriter Engineers to provide property risk control advice to clients, helping them make informed decisions about risk mitigation.
  • Develop and deliver information sessions for clients, educating them on risk management best practices and industry trends.
  • Conduct business interruption interdependency and contingency studies for select client operations, ensuring they are prepared for potential disruptions.
  • Prepare Engineering Survey Reports used for insurance placement, providing clients with critical information to inform their risk management decisions.
  • Develop client risk profiles and strategic documentation, helping clients navigate complex risk management challenges.
  • Act as a liaison between Underwriter Engineers and client representatives, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor property loss prevention inspection reports, recommendations, and follow-up commentary, ensuring clients are aware of potential risks and taking steps to mitigate them.
  • Carry out risk control design reviews on new projects and facility upgrades, ensuring cost-effective loss mitigation investments are made.
  • Recommend risk improvement strategies and initiatives in alignment with client business plan objectives.
  • Review client procedures, such as Emergency Response, Crisis Management, Business Continuity Plans, and Supply Chain management, providing commentary that reflects insurance requirements.
  • Conduct research on specific property risk control topics, providing clients with expert advice and guidance.
  • Review large property loss investigations, identifying probable causes and developing strategies to prevent similar losses in the future.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree and a licensed Professional Engineer in the province of residence.
  • 10 or more years of Property Risk Control insurance experience with Natural Resource Industry Clients (oil and gas, mining and metals processing, chemical processing, and power generation including renewables).
  • Unrestricted ability to travel out of country to visit client facilities as required.
  • Capable of acting independently and a self-starter.
  • Strong verbal and written English skills. Additional language skills in the geography that our clients are active in, is a plus.
  • Experience with other lines of Risk Control such as machinery, liability, and construction, is a plus.
  • Client industry experience is a plus.
