About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Control Engineer to join our Complex Risk Solutions Group (CRSG). As a key member of our team, you will provide technical expertise to our clients, helping them navigate complex risk management challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of facilities and management systems, working closely with Underwriter Engineers to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and review MFL, PML, and NLE studies to ensure accurate risk assessments and informed decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice on property risk control topics, helping clients to minimize losses and optimize their insurance programs.
  • Conduct business interruption interdependency and contingency studies to identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Prepare comprehensive Engineering Survey Reports to support insurance placement and risk management decisions.
  • Develop and maintain client risk profiles, providing strategic documentation to facilitate effective insurance program renewals.
  • Act as a liaison between Underwriter Engineers and client representatives, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor property loss prevention inspection reports, providing recommendations and follow-up commentary to Underwriter Engineers and third-party service providers.
  • Conduct risk control design reviews on new projects and facility upgrades, ensuring cost-effective loss mitigation investments and ongoing insurability.
  • Recommend risk improvement strategies and initiatives aligned with client business plan objectives.
  • Review client procedures, such as Emergency Response, Crisis Management, Business Continuity Plans, and Supply Chain management, providing commentary on insurance requirements.
  • Conduct research on specific property risk control topics to identify best practices and innovative solutions for client risk mitigation.
  • Review large property loss investigations to understand probable cause and prevent similar future client losses, communicating findings to clients.
  • Develop and deliver information sessions for clients to educate them on risk management best practices.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree and a licensed Professional Engineer in the province of residence.
  • 10 or more years of property risk control insurance experience with natural resource industry clients (oil and gas, mining and metals processing, chemical processing, and power generation, including renewables).
  • Unrestricted ability to travel out of country to visit client facilities as required.
  • Capable of acting independently and a self-starter.
  • Strong verbal and written English skills. Additional language skills in the geography where our clients are active are a plus.
  • Experience with other lines of risk control, such as machinery, liability, and construction, is a plus.
  • Client industry experience is a plus.
