Dietitian - Nutrition & Food Services Specialist

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our team in the Nutrition and Food Services department. As a Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing expert nutrition advice and care to patients, families, and communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities.
- Advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.
- Lead team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation.
- Participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including preceptoring dietetic interns.
- Employ an evidence-informed approach to practice.
About You
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Dietitian with a strong background in nutrition and food services. The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree with a major concentration in Foods and Nutrition.
- Dietetic Internship Program completion.
- Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association.
- Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian.
- Inpatient clinical nutrition experience.
- Competency in dysphagia management, enteral, and parenteral nutrition.
- Experience counseling patients in an outpatient setting.
- Current WHMIS.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations.
- Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
Hours and Compensation
This is a permanent part-time position with 30 hours biweekly. The successful candidate may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
