The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Dietitian to join our team in the Nutrition & Food Services department. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will be responsible for providing expert nutrition advice and support to patients, families, and communities across the province.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities.
- Advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.
- Lead team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation.
- Participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including preceptoring dietetic interns.
- Employ an evidence-informed approach to practice.
About You:
- Bachelor's degree with a major concentration in Foods and Nutrition required.
- Dietetic Internship Program required.
- Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association is required.
- Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian preferred.
- Inpatient clinical nutrition experience an asset.
- Competency in dysphagia management, enteral, and parenteral nutrition.
- Experience counseling patients in an outpatient setting.
- Current WHMIS an asset.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications, familiarity with the Meditech information system considered an asset.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work under pressure of time limitations.
- Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
Hours:
Permanent Part-time / 30 hours biweekly. Hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and Benefits:
$43.42 Hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
