**About the Role:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Expert Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with expertise in surface water assessments and mitigations for linear infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will work on various projects, developing their skills with guidance and mentorship from our senior team.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and leadership on projects, including performing technical analyses as needed.
  • Support project coordination, cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, client reports, progress reports, project scheduling, resourcing, and meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Contribute to project scoping and proposal preparation.
  • Offer mentoring, coaching, and training to staff members.
  • Promote Thurber's mission, vision, and values within the company.
  • Participate actively in fieldwork on a project-specific basis to meet client expectations and objectives.
  • Manage projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Travel to project sites, client offices, and other company locations.

**Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geoscience with a hydrotechnical focus and/or relevant work experience.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license and comfort driving mid-to-full-sized pickup trucks in urban, rural, and construction environments.
  • Ability to work comfortably in various settings, including local and remote construction sites.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
  • A graduate degree (Masters or higher) is an asset.
  • Experience with desktop and field-level scour and bank erosion assessments.
  • Experience working on linear infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in commercial analytical software packages for assessing peak and seasonal flows.
  • Experience completing flood frequency analysis (FFA).
  • Experience with climate monitoring and applications of climate data.
