We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil/Water Resources Engineer to lead our business forward and drive challenging projects. In this role, you will join a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, hydrogeologists, and environmental scientists, managing project teams and developing designs from concept through construction.

This opportunity allows you to bring your expertise in water resources engineering, river engineering, water storage, mine water, and stormwater management to the infrastructure, municipal, hydropower, oil sands, and mining sectors. Our ideal candidate has strong hydrotechnical skills, is curious, and eager to learn, and is interested in mentoring and developing junior staff.

Key objectives of this Role include:

  • Developing technical project management skills and leadership abilities.
  • Learni ng from talented and experienced senior staff while advancing your career and mentoring junior staff.
  • Building client relationships by working closely with them and supporting them through project phases.
  • Actively participating in business development and planning.
  • Managing time and resources to run multiple small projects, each generating up to $100,000 in consulting fees.

At the end of the first year, you should be managing multiple projects and project teams, have learned new technical skills through on-the-job training, be helping the group manager and team leads to manage resource allocation, and worked on at least one proposal.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities include:

  • Managing execution and timely completion of projects by tracking project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Formulating designs and detailed calculations, preparing reports and drawings, project specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Delegating design, calculations, reporting, and other activities to junior staff and being responsible for the work.
  • Continuously building technical skills through professional development, on-the-job training, and involvement in technical societies and associations.

To succeed in this position, you require:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of related project experience in Water Resources Engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, including demonstrated capabilities in writing proposals, technical reports, and construction specifications.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
