About the Role:

BEST Service Pros is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Sustainability Coordinator to join our team. As an Environmental Sustainability Coordinator, you will play a key role in implementing sustainability-friendly programs and overseeing environmental waste audits for our assigned site across Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate annual waste audits, including sample collection, physical waste sort, and data analysis to fulfill regulatory requirements and inform waste management plans.
  • Gather waste management data for sustainability reports throughout the year.
  • Monitor waste management programs and infrastructure across locations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing upgrades as necessary.
  • Support the transition to centralized waste management systems across campuses.
  • Collaborate with Facilities and Custodial Services to ensure waste management plans are prioritized and implemented effectively.
  • Visit campuses and sites to evaluate and monitor waste management program successes and challenges, reporting recommendations for improvement to Facilities.
  • Work with the Environmental Sustainability Coordinator to identify gaps in existing waste management programs and identify new opportunities to increase waste diversion rates.
  • Support the implementation of new waste management programs as they arise.
  • Facilitate daily waste management requests, coordinating waste hauler services and delivery of waste bins and supplies as needed.
  • Handle daily requests for secure document shredding services.
  • Oversee the Furniture Reallocation program and associated events.
  • Support the promotion of sustainability initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver waste reduction workshops and training.
  • Develop social media and website content.
  • Conduct research to support the development of sustainability policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Environmental Science or related diploma or degree.
  • Waste auditing experience and/or certification required.
  • 1-2 years of related experience considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Intermediate computer and smartphone knowledge with experience using MS Office programs.
  • Ability to analyze, plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Multilingual ability considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license in Ontario.
  • Pass security and criminal record checks.
