POSITION SUMMARY:
BEST Service Pros is seeking an Environmental Services Facilitator to spearhead eco-friendly initiatives and manage environmental waste assessments for various locations across Ontario. The successful candidate will be proactive, capable of working autonomously as well as collaboratively to fulfill environmental program objectives while ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
Work Location: Kitchener, ON
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize annual waste assessments: collect samples, conduct or oversee physical waste sorting, and analyze yearly data to meet regulatory requirements and inform waste management strategies.
- Compile waste management statistics for sustainability reports throughout the year.
- Oversee waste management initiatives and infrastructure across sites, facilitating necessary improvements and upgrades.
- Assist in the transition to centralized waste management systems across various campuses.
- Act as a liaison between the Facilities department and Custodial Services to ensure the waste management strategy is prioritized and effectively implemented by custodial staff.
- Conduct site visits to assess the effectiveness of waste management programs, reporting findings and recommendations to Facilities.
- Collaborate with the Environmental Sustainability Coordinator to identify deficiencies in current waste management practices and explore new opportunities to enhance waste diversion.
- Aid in the rollout of new waste management initiatives as they develop.
- Manage daily waste management requests, coordinating waste collection services and the distribution of waste bins and supplies as needed.
- Address daily requests for secure document shredding services.
- Supervise the Furniture Reallocation program and associated events.
- Promote sustainability initiatives throughout the organization.
- Assist in the creation and delivery of waste reduction workshops and training sessions.
- Develop content for social media and the company website.
- Engage with stakeholders on sustainability-related initiatives as they arise.
- Conduct research to support the formulation of sustainability policies and procedures aimed at achieving waste management and sustainability objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Environmental Science or a related field
- Experience in waste auditing or relevant certification is essential.
- 1-2 years of related experience is advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in computer and smartphone applications, with experience in MS Office.
- Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Multilingual capabilities are a plus.
- Valid Ontario driver's license.
- All candidates must successfully complete security and criminal background checks.
