This is a full-time, permanent position at Seaspan. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the administration of union and non-union pensions, retirement, and benefit plans. Your tasks will include enrollments, terminations, remittances, reconciliations, and invoicing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administration of pension and benefits plans, including enrollments, terminations, remittances, and reconciliations
  • Apply and administer interpretations of collective agreement provisions regarding benefit information
  • Administer employee health and welfare benefits
  • Lead the resolution of health and welfare benefits via internal and external vendor collaboration
  • Assist with data requests and analysis for audit, budget, compliance, and labor contract negotiation purposes
  • Maintain and audit benefit and pension/retirement plan records to ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations
  • Advise employees on pension and benefit-related matters regarding eligibility, coverage, and provisions
  • Resolve pension and benefit-related issues and respond to queries and requests in a timely manner
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, economics, or business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration or a related role
  • Professional certification (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist - CEBS; Certified Human Resources Professional - CHRP; or Society of Human Resources Management - SHRM) preferred
  • Experience working in a union environment preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of benefit and pension plans and their provincial and federal regulation (Pension Benefits Standards Act 1985, Pension Benefits Standard Act 2012)
  • Advanced computer proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to work independently, while multi-tasking and prioritization to meet specific deadlines
  • Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $81,000-$99,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors, including the successful candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
