Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director, Commercial Lending to join our team at MCAP Group of Companies. This is a permanent full-time position responsible for driving the profitability of our commercial term and CMHC insured construction lending programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Originate conventional and insured commercial mortgage opportunities nationally through direct relationships and the commercial broker network.
  • Critically assess loan applications and recommend them for approval, managing approved transactions through the commitment and funding stages of the loan life cycle.
  • Build, maintain, and manage relationships with clients, providing input into new product initiatives based on market needs.
  • Secure mortgage loan applications from borrowers and brokers, adding and expanding selectively to the MCAP/CMHC Approved Correspondent network.
  • Originate and structure commercial mortgages that are placed with MCAP investors, liaising with Investment Management to understand investor requirements for loan quality and pricing.
  • Support Investment Management in obtaining investor loan approval, including participation in presentations as required.
  • Structure, price, and adjust loans to reflect relative risk from a credit quality perspective, managing CMHC insurance processes and performing site inspections.
  • Oversee the progress of loans through all stages from inception to funding, ensuring credit quality and timelines are met and deals are retained through ongoing communication with funding and investment management teams.
  • Ensure assigned portfolios are up to date on the Salesforce contact management platform, supplying market intelligence to educate and update existing investors and support marketing of products to investors.
  • Provide input and feedback on commercial marketing materials, developing and maintaining relationships with CMHC, mortgage brokers, and real estate brokers.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in the commercial mortgage market, with prior experience, an existing client base, and a proven track record originating commercial mortgages with in-depth CMHC multi-family term and construction experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in an environment, building rapport with colleagues and working collaboratively in a team environment, developing trusted relationships with Investment Management, Funding, and Portfolio Management departments.
  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, with familiarity with CMHC policy and the multi-family marketplace an asset.
  • Ability to originate transactions with a demonstrated track in marketing and deal negotiations, with a Bachelor's Degree in Business preferred.
  • French preferred but not required.
