Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced sessional faculty member to join our team at Thompson Rivers University. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing learning materials and teaching lectures for a multi-level class of ABE English (MATH 0400 and MATH 0550).

Course Details

MATH 0400 - ABE Intermediate: This course covers basic math concepts, including operations with whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and percentages. Additional topics include systems of measurement, geometry, and an introduction to algebra.

MATH 0550 - ABE Advanced: This course builds on the concepts learned in MATH 0400, with a focus on operations with real numbers, solving first-degree equations and inequalities, and graphs of equations. Additional topics may include consumer mathematics, finance, data analysis, measurement, geometry, trigonometry, systems of equations, applications for trades, and applications for health.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Applicants must have a degree in a relevant field, including a number of courses in the topic.
  • Teaching Certificate, or Instructor's Diploma, or 5 years teaching experience plus evidence of engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Experience teaching students with diverse educational, social, and economic backgrounds.
  • Skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
  • Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods.
