The Opportunity

The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight and manage the Institute's resources and fundraising capabilities, promoting pedagogical excellence and advancing its research and local and international profile. They will foster an open and inclusive work environment, nurture relationships with internal and external parties, and strategically position the Marine Institute as a leader in the future ocean economy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a clear vision for the Marine Institute, aligning with the University's strategic objectives
  • Provide strategic oversight and manage the Institute's resources and fundraising capabilities
  • Promote pedagogical excellence and advance the Institute's research and local and international profile
  • Foster an open and inclusive work environment, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Nurture relationships with internal and external parties, including industry partners, government agencies, and community organizations
Requirements
  • Demonstrated academic leadership and research experience, preferably in a marine or maritime-related field
  • Significant senior leadership experience, including financial, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to balance consultation with sound decision-making, and to unite, inspire, and create new opportunities for collaboration
  • Strong industry knowledge, including an understanding of regulatory bodies, environmental policies, and maritime law
