About the Role:

The Health Care Aide (HCA) is an integral part of our interprofessional healthcare team at Carewest Innovative Healthcare. This role involves providing on-going client care, observing, monitoring, and reporting on client status/condition, including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards at all times, in keeping with Carewest's Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care, and Carewest policies.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Program Overview:

The EQuaL (Enabling Quality of Life) program is designed for adults aged 18 to 64 who have disabilities related to a disease or condition, such as multiple sclerosis or a brain injury, currently requiring the full-time support of a continuing care centre. As a Health Care Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting our clients in maintaining their quality of life as they transition through their healthcare journey.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:
  • Graduation from Grade 12, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Physical capability to manage the frequent lifting, transferring, and repositioning of clients.
  • Active and current registration in the Alberta HCA Directory.
  • Related experience in a healthcare facility is an asset.
