About the OpportunityThis permanent, full-time position offers a competitive salary of $37.29 - $45.40 hourly, with opportunities for professional growth and development. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will work collaboratively with pathologists and medical laboratory technologists to provide high-quality diagnostic services.
The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, leadership abilities, and technical expertise. With a strong background in anatomy, physiology, histology, pathology, and medical terminology, you will be able to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and clients.
Responsibilities- Assist pathologists in the assessment of surgically removed tissues
- Provide expertise in grossing and autopsy prosection
- Collaborate with medical laboratory technologists to ensure high-quality diagnostic services
- Develop and maintain knowledge of laboratory procedures and protocols
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses
- Certified as a Pathology Assistant by the Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants or by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification
- Graduate of an approved MSc Pathologist Assistant program preferred
- Experience with Cerner LIS preferred
- Experience with Dragon, an asset
- Strong customer service skills, leadership abilities, and technical expertise
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
