Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Indigenous Accounting Coordinator to join our team at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $65,000 - $80,000 per year.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, and financial reporting. The Native Canadian Centre of Toronto is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing programs and services that support the spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental well-being of Indigenous peoples in Toronto. Our mission is to empower Indigenous communities through education, culture, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of invoices and payment requests
  • Verify and reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare and execute timely payments via cheque or wire transfer
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions in the accounting system
  • Provide excellent customer service to vendors and internal stakeholders
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance
  • At least 3 years of experience in a computerized accounting environment
  • Special consideration given to candidates with experience in the non-profit sector
  • Strong knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
