Job Description

SCHUNK GmbH & Co. KG is seeking a highly skilled Automation Specialist to join our team. As an Automation Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping the future of industrial automation and production.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Team Leader and product sales team in the development, sales, distribution, and support of SCHUNK components.
  2. Review customer requests for quotes and specifications, and interpret drawings and other customer documents.
  3. Develop customer design specifications and coordinate development with the customer and SCHUNK Design Engineering team.
  4. Follow-up on prototype product design and application issues with the customer, making required changes to meet customer requirements and quality standards.
  5. Prepare and deliver quotes and sales orders to customers.
  6. Track and follow up on quotes and sales orders with customers and potential customers.
  7. Develop a design and production schedule that meets customer and SCHUNK business requirements, coordinating design, production, and delivery with appropriate SCHUNK teams and facilities.
  8. Provide technical service and training presentations to customers and representatives relating to SCHUNK component's use, operation, and maintenance.
  9. Provide customer support by phone and on the customer site.
  10. May enter customer quotes and sales orders into the AS400 system, tracking the order process and follow up through delivery of the product.
  11. Perform duties of the Technical Specialist and Customer Service Representative (CSR) when necessary to meet business and customer needs.
  12. Work with all product teams, Toolholding, Workholding, and Automation Components, the production shop, and the sales and marketing staff.
  13. Assist the Marketing Department with Tradeshows.
  14. Participate in SCHUNK special projects when requested.
  15. Use initiative to provide customer service assistance.
  16. Exceptional organization skills.
  17. Ability to recognize and analyze problems, develop, implement, and carry out solutions.
  18. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  19. Ability to work effectively in a small team environment with Management, Technical Specialist, other Applications Engineers, Marketing, CSR, and Inside and Outside sales staff.
  20. Ability to use initiative to identify and solve customer and product delivery problems.
  21. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects coordinating priorities with team members.
  22. Ability to quickly understand the component manufacturing and sales industry and SCHUNK product lines.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technology discipline or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
