ASL Instructor for International

We are seeking a qualified ASL Instructor to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a program that is optimal for the ASL learning and reflects current teaching practices in Ontario.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement a program that meets the needs of students
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students
- Familiarity with digital tools to teach virtually
- Incorporate equitable and inclusive learning practices
- Assess and evaluate students' progress
- Communicate students' progress to parents/guardians and students
- Supervise students in any learning setting
- Attend professional development learning opportunities
Requirements:
- Fluency in ASL
- Teaching experience, with preference to ASL teaching experience
- Related degree or diploma, with preference to Ontario College of Teachers' certification or equivalent
Preference will be given to candidates who are deaf or hard of hearing. Candidate selection will be based on the results of interview, teaching experience, qualifications, and reference checks. Only candidates shortlisted for an interview will be contacted. All offers of employment will be conditional upon the program running in the school year and during the summer program.
