Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Instructor of Individuals with Visual Impairments to join our team at Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. As an Instructor, you will play a vital role in training guide dogs and assisting individuals with visual impairments to achieve greater independence.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Training Program Development: Develop and implement training programs for guide dogs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.
  2. Client Support: Provide emotional support and guidance to individuals with visual impairments, helping them navigate everyday tasks and overcome challenges.
  3. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with our team of experts, including trainers, handlers, and medical professionals, to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Registered Apprenticeship certificate and 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Work Setting: Ability to work in a rural area and willingness to relocate.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Guide Dog Mobility Instructor (GDMI) certification.
