Project Engineer / Coordinator Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer / Coordinator to join our team in Vancouver, BC and Toronto, ON. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in infrastructure projects, such as bridges, highways, and rail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to the design-build bid team during the proposal phase of large design-build projects.
  • Assist with technical support to construction activities at the worksite, expediting design changes for timely response to construction inquiries.
  • Collaborate with team members, trade partners, consultants, and clients to ensure effective communication and project success.
  • Utilize organizational skills to maintain, review, and follow up on shop drawings, RFI's, material purchase orders, change notice quotes, and project completion documents.
  • Study drawings and specifications issued to the field and report any ambiguities, interferences, or errors to the Construction Manager.
  • Advise representatives and contractors on the interpretation of drawings and specifications, and recommend additional details or clarifications required from project design.
  • Review proposals for field changes and substitutions, and recommend action to the Construction Manager for approval.
  • Verify the accuracy of surveys and dimensions established by contractors, and assist in establishing and maintaining survey benchmarks.
  • Define and implement inspection requirements for construction work to ensure conformity to drawings and specifications.
  • The Project Engineer / Coordinator will demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection on the project, effectively applying project-specific safety standards to promote HS&E standards, applicable OH&S acts, regulations, and codes with all employees and trade partners on the project.
  • Obtain and supply field representatives and QA/QC inspectors with applicable codes, manufacturer's instructions, vendor drawings, and installation procedures required for field work.
  • Perform any other duties directed by Construction Managers.
  • Assure 'Red Lines' are completed within 30 days of Project completion.
Requirements:
  • A Degree/Technology Diploma in Engineering, or a combination of education and industry experience.
  • Project Engineer / Coordinator will have a P. Eng or be working towards it.
  • 4+ years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Experience on infrastructure projects such as bridges, highways, and rail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities under time constraints.
  • A proven track record of project coordination and team collaboration.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with enthusiasm for innovation.
