Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Patient Transportation Coordinator to join our team at Interior Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of patients within our healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient transfers between healthcare facilities, taking into account the patient's medical needs and the operational requirements of our facilities.
  • Work closely with clinical staff, transportation providers, and bed coordinating agencies to facilitate patient flow through the healthcare continuum.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to optimize patient transportation services and reduce costs.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff, ensuring a positive experience throughout the transportation process.
  • Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program in direct patient care, with eligibility for licensure in a relevant professional registering body.
  • Three years of recent experience in patient transportation coordination, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate safe and cost-effective patient transportation services.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, with the ability to operate related equipment and software.
