Job Title: Infection Control Practitioner

William Osler Health System is seeking a highly skilled Infection Control Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) department, you will play a critical role in reducing the risk of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and promoting a safe and healthy environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct surveillance activities to identify and investigate potential infection control issues
  • Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures
  • Provide education and training to healthcare providers on infection control best practices
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in outbreak management and response activities
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to reduce the risk of HAIs
  • Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive records of infection control activities
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a health-related field (e.g. nursing, laboratory, epidemiology)
  • Membership with Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Canada
  • Current registration and in good standing with a regulatory body in Ontario
  • Previous experience as an Infection Control Practitioner in an acute care setting
  • Completion of an entry-level Infection Control course
  • Certified in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) or commitment to obtain within 2 years
