Job Title: Infection Control Practitioner

North York General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Infection Control Practitioner to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our Infection Prevention and Control Program, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and infection control across our hospital.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement effective infection control policies and procedures to minimize the risk of nosocomial infections.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare providers on infection control best practices and protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify and address infection control concerns and develop strategies to prevent and control outbreaks.
  • Conduct surveillance and monitoring of nosocomial infections, analyzing data to inform infection control initiatives and improve patient outcomes.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of infection control policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide consultation and support to hospital departments and committees on infection control matters, promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
Requirements:
  • University preparation in a health-related discipline or recognized equivalent.
  • Completion of an IPAC-Canada endorsed Infection Control course.
  • Certification in infection control (CIC) preferred.
  • Proven experience in infection control, with a strong understanding of microbiology and infection control practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
