Working within their legislated scope of practice and employment, the Pharmacy Practice Assistant assumes responsibility for their actions and contributes to the plan of care and pharmacy function to ensure a safe environment.
The Pharmacy Practice Assistant functions are self-determined, assigned through management, the pharmacist, or other members of the care team.
About YouWe are seeking a qualified individual with the following qualifications:
- Grade XII plus completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician/Technology Program (accredited program preferred) OR one-year full-time experience as a hospital pharmacy technician OR two years' experience as a community pharmacy technician
- Licensure in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP) is an asset
- Two years' experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital, is an asset
- Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control, and record keeping
- Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications
- Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Competencies in other languages, such as French, are an asset
- Reliable transportation is required for occasional travel

Hours and CompensationThis is a permanent full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $23.18 to $27.18.
