Job Title: Medical Director, HSC Adult Emergency Department

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director to lead our Adult Emergency Department at the Health Sciences Centre (HSC). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of quality care, collaborating with provincial and regional stakeholders, and promoting continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Medical Leadership: Provide medical leadership to the Adult Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  2. Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with the Provincial Specialty Lead, Emergency Medicine, Shared Health Manitoba, and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) Emergency Program to plan and coordinate province-wide and city-wide Emergency Department care.
  3. Quality Improvement: Promote continuous quality improvement by establishing department policies and procedures, developing common interdisciplinary department standards, and identifying and monitoring relevant indicators.
  4. Program Development: Develop new program proposals to advance the scope and quality of program services at the HSC, consistent with the strategic plan of the HSC and Shared Health Manitoba.
  5. Communication and Liaison: Communicate effectively with all staff in the Adult Emergency Department and with external stakeholders, including other related clinical programs, paramedical services, and community agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from a recognized university
  • Licensed with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM)
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (Emergency Medicine) or Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada (Emergency Medicine) or ABEM (American Board of Emergency Medicine)
  • Eligible for a medical staff appointment with Shared Health
