Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director to lead our Adult Emergency Department at the Health Sciences Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical leadership and direction to the department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and promoting a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical leadership and direction to the Adult Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Collaborate with the Provincial Specialty Lead, Emergency Medicine, Shared Health Manitoba in planning and coordinating province-wide Emergency Department care.
  • Collaborate with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) Emergency Program in coordinating the city-wide delivery of Emergency Department care in Winnipeg.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of patient care.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Adult Emergency Department Leadership Team, ensuring the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote a culture of quality and safety.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Medical degree from a recognized university.
  • Licensed with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (Emergency Medicine) or Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada (Emergency Medicine) or ABEM (American Board of Emergency Medicine).
  • Eligible for a medical staff appointment with Shared Health.
