Job Opportunity: Senior Vegetation Ecologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Vegetation Ecologist to join our team. As a key member of our Vegetation Group, you will be responsible for leading ecological inventory, effects assessment, and monitoring programs. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing and implementing field programs, developing regulatory applications, and providing technical guidance to junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide senior technical advice and direction on ecological inventory, effects assessment, and monitoring programs
  • Design and conduct field programs, including data analysis and technical report writing
  • Lead the design, planning, and implementation of field programs
  • Develop regulatory applications and liaise with regulators and clients as needed
  • Complete senior technical review and Quality Assurance/Quality Control of vegetation and wetland mapping products and reports
  • Manage and coordinate projects, including budget compilation and tracking
  • Collaborate with the EDI team to execute proposals and develop cost estimates
  • Support other staff and projects within EDI
  • Participate in EDI's health and safety program
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of related consulting experience
  • BSc degree in biology or related discipline; MSc would be an asset
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as RPBio, RPF, PBiol, or PAg
  • Knowledge and experience of terrestrial ecology in western Canada, including soil science, vegetation ecology, and taxonomy
  • Experience in a variety of sectors, including oil and gas, transportation, mining, renewable energy, and urban development
  • Class 5 driver's license
