Permit Technician/Permit Clerk Job Description

Destinationone Consulting is seeking a skilled Permit Technician/Permit Clerk to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in processing and managing building permits and related applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and process building permit applications to ensure compliance with local codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards.
  • Issue permits and manage the permit tracking system, including data entry and record maintenance.
  • Provide assistance and information to the public, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding permit requirements and procedures.
  • Review construction plans and documents for completeness and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate with various departments and agencies to facilitate the permit approval process.
  • Handle permit fees, including calculation and processing of payments.
  • Prepare and maintain reports and documentation related to permit applications and approvals.
  • Stay informed about changes in building codes, regulations, and permitting procedures to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
Requirements:
  • Relevant certification or diploma in Administrative Support, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a permit technician, permit clerk, or in a similar administrative role within a regulatory or construction environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for managing permit applications and records.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with applicants, contractors, and municipal officials.
  • Proficiency in using office software and permit management systems.
  • Ability to stay current with changes in building codes, regulations, and permit processes.
