Park Paving Ltd. is a leading road construction contractor in Edmonton, seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Permitting Specialist to support our operations.



Job Summary

This is a full-time, year-round, permanent position based at our main office with a field work component. The successful candidate will be required to work overtime.



Main Responsibilities

Regulatory Authorizations

The Environmental Permitting Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and coordination of regulatory authorization applications for sand and gravel pits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including the Code of Practice for Pits, Water Act, Public Lands Act, and municipal land use bylaws.



Environmental Monitoring

The successful candidate will collect and report environmental data and samples as required by regulatory authorizations at remote gravel pits.



Inventory Management and Drone Flights

The Environmental Permitting Specialist will conduct monthly drone flights and modeling for effective inventory management.



Identify Aggregate Reserves

The successful candidate will participate in identifying, testing, and acquiring potential aggregate reserves through ground truthing, screening, and application.



Operational Support

The Environmental Permitting Specialist will provide support for mining operations and reclamation activities at gravel pits.



Environmental Management Program

The successful candidate will conduct inspections, monitoring, and reporting to ensure compliance with environmental best management practices and regulatory requirements for company facilities.



Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Environmental Science, Agrology, Biology, Forestry, or a related field. Registration or eligibility for registration with a relevant professional association in Alberta is also required.



At least two years of experience in environmental permitting, monitoring, and compliance is essential. A strong understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations, policies, and permitting requirements, particularly related to sand and gravel operations, is also necessary.



The successful candidate must possess or be willing to obtain a Drone Pilot Certificate for Advanced Operations. Experience in the sand and gravel mining industry is an asset.
