Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Operator to join our team at Dexterra Group. As a key member of our Building Operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment, performing general maintenance, and overseeing 3rd party contractors.

Main Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Monitor, adjust, and maintain mechanical equipment such as heat pumps, boilers, air handlers, and pumps to ensure efficient operation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • General Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, light replacement, and ballast replacement, to ensure the overall integrity of the building's systems.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance as outlined by maintenance schedules to prevent equipment failures and ensure optimal performance.
  • Contractor Oversight: Supervise and coordinate the work of 3rd party contractors to ensure safe and compliant operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS), and First Aid and CPR training.
  • Communication: Communicate work status and progress to clients and stakeholders through the central call center, adhering to response time policies.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Participate in educational programs and in-service trainings, attend meetings as required, and perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
  • Education and Certifications: Certificate of Building Environmental Systems - Operator Class One & Two or SMT or Stationary Engineer 4th/5th Class or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in general maintenance in a commercial, laboratory equipment, or industrial environment.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical blueprints, knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and First Aid and CPR training, and computer literacy.
