In-House Counsel Support Specialist

The Law Society of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled In-House Counsel Support Specialist to join our team. This role will provide intermediate to senior level legal and administrative support to our Claims Counsel in the management and defense of malpractice claims against lawyers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Litigation services, including drafting pleadings and court documents, and preparing Releases.
- Word processing for correspondence and reports, and organizing and filing litigation documents.
- Ensuring complete and accurate claims information in our database.
- Maintaining time-sensitive materials and deadlines.
- Communicating with law firms, court registries, and service providers.
- Tracking excess insurers and running exception reports.
- Conducting research using QuickLaw, BC Online, LTSA, and Court Services Online.
- Preparing PowerPoint slides for risk management presentations.
- Opening, maintaining, and closing electronic claim files.
- Reviewing and analyzing data entries by Claims Counsel.
- Processing payments and receivables on claim files.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 and a post-secondary diploma as a legal secretary.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A minimum of five years of legal secretarial experience, with emphasis on litigation.
- Ability to cite case law (an asset).
