About the Role

Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Director, Internal Audit to lead our Internal Audit department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. As the Chief Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for providing objective assurance audit services to the Board of Governors and the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. Your leadership and administration of all activities related to the Internal Audit department will be crucial in ensuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability of the University's operational policies, governance, risk management, control processes and procedures, and practices.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement comprehensive, risk-based Internal Audit Plans to assess the University's operational policies, governance, risk management, control processes and procedures, and practices.
* Provide leadership and administration of all activities related to the Internal Audit department, including monitoring and reporting on the progress of Internal Audit Plans.
* Conduct internal audits to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to the Audit Committee.
* Collaborate with the Audit Committee and other stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management practices.
* Develop and maintain relationships with senior management and other stakeholders to promote a culture of risk management and internal control.
* Manage and maintain internal and external collaborative working relationships and recognize the interests of diverse groups to facilitate excellent service.

Requirements

* Minimum 10 years of finance experience and at least five years of management experience in an internal or external audit environment.
* University degree is required.
* Experience in the post-secondary sector and management in a unionized environment are considered assets.
* Completion of a professional designation is required (e.g. CIA, CPA, CA, CMA and CGA), and in good standing.
* Certification as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is considered an asset.
* Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
