Job Summary

We are seeking a Casual Instructional Assistant to join our team at St.Amant School. As an Instructional Assistant, you will play a vital role in implementing educational programs and providing care to small groups of students, working closely with teachers and other interdisciplinary team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support teachers in identifying the total needs of a group of residents and developing individualized programs.
  • Encourage people to explore new relationships and community activities, and support individuals in developing meaningful connections.
  • Follow the direction of the Teacher, working with other team members to deliver the educational component of the overall program of care, education, and training.
  • Participate in the Individualized Program or Educational Planning (IPP/IEP) process to ensure that the needs and preferences of each student are addressed.
  • Communicate with students' family members or advocates as required.
  • Support others to function as effective team members and achieve consensus decisions.
Requirements
  • Grade XII diploma (or equivalent) and one year certificate in a relevant area of study (e.g., Developmental Service Worker Certificate, Early Childhood Education Diploma Program, or Educational Assistant Diploma).
  • Class 4F driver's license (or Class 5F with the ability to secure Class 4F within six months).
  • Experience working in a school program, preferably with individuals with severe developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a participatory team approach.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
