Job SummaryWe are seeking an Instructional Assistant to join our team at St.Amant School. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver educational programs and provide care to small groups of students. Your primary responsibilities will include implementing educational plans, providing primary physical care, and supporting students in exploring relationships and community activities.
Key Responsibilities- Support teachers in identifying the total needs of a group of residents and developing educational plans.
- Implement educational programs and provide primary physical care to students as needed.
- Participate in the Individualized Program Planning (IPP) process to ensure the overall needs and preferences of each student are addressed.
- Work closely with other team members to ensure coordination and integration of services.
- Communicate with students' family members or advocates as required.
- Support others to function as effective team members and achieve consensus decisions.
- Provide direction, supervision, and assistance to volunteers.
- Grade XII diploma (or equivalent).
- One year certificate in a relevant area of study (e.g., Developmental Service Worker Certificate, one year completed towards the Early Childhood Education Diploma Program or Educational Assistant Diploma).
- Class 4F driver's license (or equivalent).
- Experience working in a school program, preferably with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a participatory team approach.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
