Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Instructional Assistant to join our team at St.Amant School. As an Instructional Assistant, you will play a vital role in implementing educational programs and providing care to small groups of students. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive program of care, education, and training that addresses the individual needs and preferences of each student.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the teacher in identifying the total needs of a group of residents and developing individualized educational plans.
  • Implement educational programs and provide primary physical care to students as needed.
  • Participate in the formal IPP/IEP process to ensure that the overall needs and preferences of each student are addressed.
  • Work closely with other team members to ensure coordination and integration of services.
  • Communicate with students' family members or advocates as required.
Requirements
  • Grade XII diploma (or equivalent) and one year certificate in a relevant area of study (e.g. Developmental Service Worker Certificate, one year completed towards the Early Childhood Education Diploma Program or Educational Assistant Diploma).
  • Class 4F driver's license (or Class 5F with the ability to secure Class 4F within six months).
  • Experience working in a school program within the last five years (or a combination of Grade 12 and 3000 hours of experience).
  • Ability to work effectively within a participatory team approach.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
