Job Title: Senior Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our team at JMP Solutions - Canada. As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing custom automation solutions using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other design tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop custom automation solutions for various industries
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design solutions meet customer requirements
  • Perform engineering calculations to validate functionality and component sizing
  • Develop 2D and 3D designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Lead design reviews and communicate design direction to stakeholders
  • Source and select major 3rd party technical vendors
  • Produce 2D assembly and manufacturing drawings, pneumatic schematics, and Bills of Materials
  • Review and verify designer's concepts, designs, and drawings
  • Assist with the development of other Mechanical Designers through coaching and mentorship
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in electrical, mechanical, or software controls technology
  • At least eight years of relevant work experience in automation design
  • Proven leadership qualities and good oral and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of industrial automation and robotics
  • Direct experience in an automation design role (Mechanical or Electrical) including strong aptitude of 3D CAD design, 2D drawings, and on-the-floor equipment troubleshooting
  • Confident performing engineering calculations to analyze equipment parameters
  • Proficient with sanitary design requirements, material selection, tolerance stack up, and component selection
  • Familiarity and/or proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM, AutoCAD, and TETO
