Senior Mechanical Designer

Join our team at JMP Solutions - Canada as a Senior Mechanical Designer and take on a challenging role in designing and developing custom automation solutions. As a key member of our Systems division, you will be responsible for creating innovative mechanical designs for robotic, AGV/AMR, and packaging solutions using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Total ETO, and PDM Professional.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop custom automation solutions for various industries, including food, consumer packaged goods, and tube & pipe production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify mechanical functional requirements and perform engineering calculations to validate functionality.
- Develop 3D designs and 2D assembly and manufacturing drawings, pneumatic schematics, Bills of Materials, and Spare Parts lists.
- Lead interactive design reviews and communicate design direction with confidence and clarity.
- Assist with the development of other Mechanical Designers through coaching and mentorship.
- Interact with Project Leads, Mechanical Team Leads, and Project Managers to effectively communicate project status, issues, risks, and scope management items.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in electrical, mechanical, or software controls technology.
- At least eight years of relevant work experience in an automation design role.
- Proven leadership qualities, including good oral and written communication skills.
- Solid understanding of industrial automation and robotics.
- Direct experience in an automation design role, including strong aptitude of 3D CAD design, 2D drawings, and on-the-floor equipment troubleshooting.
