Child and Youth Worker

We are seeking a qualified Child and Youth Worker to join our team at the Waterloo Region District School Board. This is a part-time, long-term occasional (LTO) position.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will work with students in a school-based setting, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their academic and personal goals. The Child and Youth Worker will work collaboratively with teachers, educational assistants, and other school staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities:- Provide individual and group support to students with diverse needs, including those with physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote student engagement, motivation, and academic success.
- Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to support students in times of need.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
- Diploma in Child and Youth Work or equivalent college or university degree in a child-related field.
- Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Physical ability to support students with various needs, including lifting and toileting.
