At BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Worker to join our team in providing exceptional care to individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

About the Role

This is a regular, full-time position that offers a competitive salary of $31.42 per hour. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families, providing support according to established care plans.
  • Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, and assisting with daily living activities.
  • Perform nursing care functions as applicable, such as monitoring patient progress and reporting significant observations to registered nurses or designated staff members.
  • Respond to emergencies and call bells/alarms by alerting healthcare team members and providing assistance as needed.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Grade 10 education and graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant or Care Attendant program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • The capacity to deal with others effectively and maintain confidentiality.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
