Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Dysphagia Care Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of the interprofessional care team, you will provide essential speech language pathology services to patients in accordance with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC standards of practice.

About This Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) procedures, conducting assessments of patient communication, speech, and swallow functional abilities, and developing evidence-based treatment plans to achieve optimal health outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide speech language pathology services in acute care settings, including MBS procedures and assessments of patient communication, speech, and swallow function.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address patient needs and goals.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional care team to ensure seamless quality patient care.
  • Evaluate and document the effectiveness of interventions and modify treatment plans as needed.
  • Participate in maintaining seamless quality patient care by identifying appropriate referrals for speech language pathology services.
Qualifications
  • Certified registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHBC).
  • Hold CHSBC Certificate I: Videofluoroscopic Assessment & Management of Adult Swallowing Disorders.
  • Demonstrated expertise in speech language pathology theory and practice within a patient and family-centered model of care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 based on qualifications and experience.
