About the Role


The Health Care Worker works under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other designate, assisting in the delivery of patient care in a Maximum and Multi-Level Security Units environment.


Key Responsibilities



  • Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, and assisting with feeding.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to established care plans and protocols.
  • Respond to call bells and alarms, alerting the appropriate team member and/or assisting as necessary.
  • Observe and monitor patient progress, reporting significant observations to the Registered Nurse or designate.
  • Utilize mechanical aides, such as specialty beds and wheelchairs, to transport patients and provide assistance with lifting and/or transferring.

Requirements



  • Grade 10 education or equivalent, plus completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant or Care Attendant program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of Indigenous-specific anti-racism and cultural safety.
