Sleep Technologist Job Overview

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Clinical Sleep Specialist to join their team at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC.

Job Summary:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting polysomnograms for the diagnosis and treatment of central and obstructive sleep disorders.
  • This includes titrating and managing positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform polysomnograms for patients with sleep disorders.
  2. Conduct various tests involving non-invasive techniques such as electroencephalography, electrooculography, electromyography, electrocardiography, multiple sleep latency, and respiratory tracings.
  3. Monitor patient safety during procedures.
  4. Record measurements and formulate technical reports for medical staff interpretation.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in a health care discipline such as respiratory therapy, nursing, or electroneurophysiology technology from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum one year's recent experience in sleep study work or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR-C).
