Job Summary

The Registered Practical Nurse will be responsible for promoting health and assessing, providing care for, and treating health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative, and rehabilitative means to adults and children during their pre and post anesthetic phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' health conditions and develop care plans to promote health and prevent complications
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to physicians
  • Provide education to patients and families on health conditions and self-care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of surgical sub-specialties and procedures

Requirements

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility
  • Current BCLS
  • Successful completion of Post Anaesthetic Course within the last 3 years
  • Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
  • 2 years recent acute care surgical nursing experience
  • Broad knowledge in all the surgical sub-specialties performed at Brightshores
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
  • Ability to work all shifts
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and interpersonal skills
