Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Services team at Brightshores. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and promoting a safe and supportive environment for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and provide care to surgical patients, promoting optimal function and health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patient needs and preferences.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, promoting health literacy and empowerment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of best practices and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to regulatory requirements and Brightshores' standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring clear and respectful interactions.
  • Stay current with industry developments, best practices, and evidence-based guidelines, applying this knowledge to improve patient care.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility.
  • Physical Assessment course and Post-Anaesthetic Course completion.
  • Minimum two years of surgical experience within the last five years.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities and patient needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and ongoing education.
  • Adherence to Brightshores' CARE Behaviours and LEAD Competencies, promoting a safe and respectful work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate Degree in nursing.
  • BCLS certification.
  • Additional education or training in surgery or medicine.
  • Broad surgical experience, with a focus on sub-specialties.
