Accounts Payable Clerk Job Description

Broadstreet Properties Ltd. is a family-owned and operated property management company seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payment documents, maintaining ledgers, and investigating account irregularities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date ledgers, crediting balances, and investigate account irregularities
  2. Obtain approval for disbursements and ensure expenditures are correctly coded
  3. Process and post invoices and expenses in a timely manner
  4. Prepare and fill out payments to third parties, whether by EFT, Cheque, or credit
  5. Audit purchase requests for materials, supplies, equipment, and other collateral
  6. Verify that orders are charged to the proper accounts
  7. Review bills to the company for potential errors and/or discrepancies
  8. Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or misapplied transactions
  9. Review all credit balances, refunds, and adjustments, and apply adjustments and/or corrections to corporate billing records
  10. Balance daily A/P batches; prepare and distribute payment reports and statistics to key personnel
Requirements:
  1. 2 years of working experience in a high-paced office setting
  2. Basic knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls
  3. Accounts Payable experience considered an asset
  4. High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and computerized accounting applications
  5. Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  6. Excellent teamwork and team building skills
  7. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  8. Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
