Waste Management Project Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Waste Management Project Director with a strong background in growing business in the waste management industry. The ideal candidate will work closely with our Regional Business Development Manager to expand our waste management team and leverage our expertise in innovative waste management technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain lasting relationships with municipal and private clients and prospects.
- Collaborate with the Regional Business Development Manager to develop the business in the Northwest region.
- Lead proposals for new projects, ensuring timely submission and effective communication.
- Lead waste management projects for municipal and private clients, including permitting, operations support, detailed design, construction management, and environmental studies.
- Lead GHD's waste management projects, encompassing planning and design of various waste management facilities, such as composting facilities, anaerobic digestion facilities, landfills, transfer stations, material recovery facilities, renewable natural gas projects, and waste-to-energy projects.
- Work with our waste management planning team to undertake the technical aspects of master plans.
- Prepare and review technical reports, ensuring they meet the highest standards.
- Effectively communicate and connect with existing and prospective clients, providing exceptional customer service.
- Conduct regulatory conformance reviews and project management of studies and designs to support permit applications.
- Establish and maintain relationships with regulators, ensuring compliance and effective communication.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to intermediate and junior technical staff across our offices in Western Canada.
- Contribute to the growth and direction of the North American Waste Management Team.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the solid waste industry.
- At least 5 years of experience in a consulting role.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a business development role.
- Engineer, scientist, or planner certification.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to travel extensively and conduct field work.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a highly skilled and diverse project team.
