Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist II is a key member of the Complex ADHD Treatment Team at Alberta Health Services. This role involves providing consultation to professionals and assessment of children and adolescents with complex mental health issues and associated developmental, cognitive, and behavioral disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides occupational therapy assessment and consultation to professionals and families
  • Works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to contribute to mental health assessments and provide clarity regarding DSM-V diagnoses
  • Manages caseload effectively and works with families and other professionals to formulate assessments, meaningful case plans, and facilitate referrals as requested
  • Explores presenting problems from a client-focused perspective and assesses clients' coping skills and social support systems
  • Collaborates with families and community service providers to develop and facilitate the most appropriate service plan

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of DSM-V diagnosis
  • Brain Story Certification
  • School-based experience
  • Knowledge of community resources for clients and families
  • Experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Experience working with psychosis
