We're seeking a seasoned Unit Manager to lead our Legal Claims Support team. As a key member of our team, you'll oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of our Law Clerks, Legal Assistants, and Administrative Support members.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and communicate clear performance objectives for your team and continually measure progress.
- Ensure high employee engagement by monitoring overall engagement and creating engagement action plans.
- Assess team strengths and areas for improvement, providing recommendations for growth.
- Provide regular feedback, mentoring, and coaching to team members.
- Identify key talent and provide developmental opportunities for growth.
- Lead the recruitment process, including interviews and onboarding.
- Facilitate team meetings, one-on-ones, and huddles to ensure information flow.
- Assist team members in understanding and applying policies, procedures, and theories.
- Drive change while maintaining effective communication.
- Plan and implement office systems and procedures.
- Partner with HR to lead recruitment and onboarding.
- Participate in project-based tasks assigned by Director and/or VP Legal Claims.
- Compile and analyze statistics and reports, monitoring legal trends.
- University degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline (legal, paralegal, or management) or equivalent education combined with relevant work experience.
- Minimum five to eight years of experience in a litigation environment or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum two years of management experience or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills to develop and foster favorable relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, I-Manager, and other e-discovery tools.
- Proven project management skills, including planning, leading, and executing projects.
- Experience implementing and driving change, encouraging innovative thinking and changes in operations.
- Experience leading a large team, including establishing and measuring performance, providing feedback, and maintaining employee engagement.
