Ag Manager Job Description

Federated Co-operatives Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ag Manager to lead the Agro Department at our Home & Agro Centre in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Agro Department, including sales, margins, expenses, inventory, staffing, merchandising, and labour.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, promoting the sale of merchandise and meeting or exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Agro Sales Manager to ensure the department supports sales strategy, projections, and targets, including purchasing, customer pick-up and deliveries, product assortment, etc.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to standards for merchandising, housekeeping, appearance, marketing efforts, operating procedures, and loss prevention.
  • Remain knowledgeable in all lines of merchandise in the Agro Department and maintain a high level of product knowledge.
  • Initiate, prepare, and place orders for replenishment of merchandise with approved suppliers.
  • Consistently collaborate with the Yard and Receiving teams, ensuring all relevant documentation and information is shared in a timely manner.
  • Ensure an exceptional level of service is provided and that service standards are consistently met by all department staff.
  • Manage assets and adhere to a maintenance schedule.
  • Adhere to the "Image Checklist" for facilities and equipment.
  • Contribute to the annual budget and ensure claims, invoices, and all other paperwork is completed accurately and on time, following all procedure requirements.
  • Adhere to and enforce proper recruitment procedures.
  • Implement, enforce, and maintain written performance expectations and standards.
  • Hold regular staff meetings.
  • Develop and ensure a staff training plan is followed.
  • Lead ongoing performance management and coaching for all department staff.
  • Adhere to and enforce all Dawson Co-operative Union policies and procedures.
  • Plan for self-development and take initiative to improve own knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of grade 12 education, with preference given to candidates with relevant post-secondary education.
  • Over five years of experience in the Agriculture/ranching Industry.
  • Previous leadership experience and demonstrated skills leading, training, and developing a team.
  • Knowledge of agricultural and farming products.
  • Positive and results-oriented attitude.
  • Valid Class Five drivers license with a clean abstract.
  • Strong ability to manage relationships at all levels.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Between $56,630 and $84,945 based on qualifications and experience.
