Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in Surrey, B.C., providing mental health and substance use services to tertiary and older adult patients.

About the Role

This is a Relief Part Time position working collaboratively with an interprofessional care team. The ideal candidate will have experience in mental health, crisis intervention, and patient-centered care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned clients, including reviewing client history, conducting physical and psychosocial assessments, monitoring medical and psychiatric conditions, and providing education to individuals and their support systems.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and document psycho-social rehabilitative plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and communicating changes to the team and physician/psychiatrist.
  • Facilitate individual and group treatment using cognitive, behavioral, educational, problem-solving, and crisis intervention methods, providing supportive counseling to clients and families.
  • Provide life skills training when applicable and respond to medical/psychiatric emergencies.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
  • One year recent related mental health experience in an acute, tertiary or community setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
