Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Director to lead our Before and After School Program at the YMCA BC. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing child-centered programming, supervising a team of staff and volunteers, and ensuring the health and safety of children in their care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Plan and lead indoor and outdoor activities for children ages 5 – 12, and develop leadership skills to a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Team Supervision: Directly supervise and provide coaching and development to a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete administrative tasks including payroll, budget tracking, and other related duties.
  • Child Safety and Well-being: Ensure the health and safety of children in your care, and maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
  • Communication: Establish positive relationships and communications with families, staff, and key community stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Must be 19 years of age, with a minimum of 1 year experience leading a team, and experience working or volunteering with children.
  • Certifications and Training: Emergency First Aid & CPR in accordance with Schedule C of the Child Care Licensing Regulation, and training related to child development (asset).
  • Personal Qualities: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
